Caulfield Suspensions; Import Worries; Epsom Withdrawals/Riding Engagements; Jet Away Update; Snitzeraland/Epaulette; Dear Demi Booking

• Glamour girls Jackie Beriman and Kayla Nisbet were suspended on careless riding charges at Caulfield on Sunday.

Beriman was suspended for her ride on Verdant after she lost third placing on protest. She misses eight meetings from August 29 until October 7. Nisbet's suspension for her ride on Bulbula covers 10 meetings from October 1 until October 11.

• The spring future for the Craig Ritchie-trained import Sir John Hawkwood is clouded after he pulled up lame in the near foreleg and was suffering from slow recovery after he failed at his Australian debut on Sunday.

• Victorian pair High Esteem and Fawkner are out of next Saturday's G1 Epsom Handicap at Randwick.

Peter Moody has pulled High Esteem from the Epsom to rely on Lidari following his loss in the Shannon Stakes at Rosehill. High Esteem choked down according to Moody and will have a tongue tie applied when he has his next start in the G1 Toorak Handicap at Caulfield.

Fawkner has been impressive in his recent Sydney starts but owner Lloyd Williams says he is heading back to Melbourne to run in the G1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington on Saturday instead of staying on for the Epsom. Williams will also have Green Moon, Sea Moon and Mourayan in the Turnbull while his imports Masked Marvel (Craven Plate) and Seville (Metropolitan) race at Randwick.

• Peter Moody has booked Peter Robl to ride Lidari while Stephen Baster will come from Melbourne to ride plunge horse Rekindled Interest in the Epsom. Other Epsom riding engagements include Kerrin McEvoy on Doncaster winner Sacred Falls and Jim Cassidy aboard Riva De Lago for Chris Waller, Sizzling (Tim Clark), Belltone (Jay Ford) and Scream Machine (Kathy O'Hara).

• Michael Walker will take the ride on Hawkspur in the Turnbull Stakes at Flemington on Saturday while Jim Cassidy stays in Sydney to ride Riva De Lago and Zoustar at Randwick. Hawkspur will be joined in the Turnbull by stablemate Royal Descent and Foreteller.

• Trainer David Hayes has issued a positive report on the progress of his high class import Jet Away after delays in his spring preparation. “He looks fantastic. I think he is going well and is now over his mucous issue,” Hayes advised on Sunday. “He will run first up in the Turnbull Stakes and whatever he does in that will bring him on nicely for a tilt at the Caulfield Cup.”

• Flying Sydney mare Snitzerland is in doubt for the G1 Manikato Stakes after she was found to mucous in her system after failing first-up in the G1 Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley last Friday night. Epaulette, also beaten first-up in the Moir Stakes, will also bypass the Manikato Stakes and be saved for the Patinack Farm Classic at Flemington.

• Kiwi jockey James McDonald has been booked to ride Sydney mare Dear Demi in the Caulfield Cup on October 19 but cannot ride her in Saturday's Turnbull Stakes due to Sydney commitments. A new rider also required to replace McDonald on Savvy Nature in the G1 Spring Champion Stakes on October 12 as he will be riding It's A Dundeel in Melbourne that day in the Caulfield Stakes.
