American raider Si Sage is the first of the international horses to land in Singapore when he arrived in good shape at Changi Airport at 7.30am on Sunday morning.

Looking cool and composed (like his name Si Sage, which means "so calm" in French, suggests) despite an arduous 21-hour flight – which also included a one-hour delay - from Los Angeles airport via Belgium, the Darrell Vienna-trained galloper had a little stretch-out at the airport before taking the one-hour float journey to his new temporary home at the international stables at Kranji.

Singapore Turf Club veterinary surgeon Dr Curry Keoughan, who oversaw Si Sage's (four-year-old entire by Sageburg) arrival, could not be more pleased with the way the three-time French winner has copped the trip.

“No problem to report with our first horse to arrive. He landed in good order, did not turn a hair when he walked out of the pallet and later on walked straight onto the float,” said Dr Keoughan.

“The grooms who accompanied him on the flight said he travelled very well. He's settled in nicely in his box and we will take the routine urine sample later on.”

Si Sage is scheduled to contest in the $3 million International Group 1 Singapore Airlines International Cup (2000m) on May 18.
