Godolphin two-year-olds Calliope and Souchez both secured a place in the 2016 Longines Golden Slipper but only one is likely to run.

Calliope is expected to push on to the 2016 Golden Slipper this Saturday March 19 but Souchez is likely to be saved for the 2016 Inglis Sires during The Championships.

Calliope and Souchez secured the final ballot exemption places in the 2016 Golden Slipper with their respective wins in the Magic Night Stakes and Pago Pago Stakes at Rosehill last Saturday.

Their victories finalised the order of entry for the 2016 Golden Slipper but it will be the non-acceptors that will finalise the make-up of the final field.

Along with Souchez, those inside the 16 that are expected not to accept include Zelady’s Night Out, Power Trip and Zamzam.

Seaburge, Thyme For Roses, Weatherly, Cohesion and Selenia are also likely non-runners to bring some of those further down the list in line for a start in the 2016 Golden Slipper.

Star Turn currently sits inside the field at number 13 but a decision on whether he takes his place in the 2016 Golden Slipper will be made in the next 24 hours after the colt won a barrier trial on Monday.

Acceptances for the 2016 Longines Golden Slipper will be taken on the morning of Tuesday March 15 with the barrier draw to take place at 11am the same day.
