Victoria Derby winner Tarzino heads a field of 14 for the 2016 Sky Racing Rosehill Guineas (2000m).

The Mick Price-trained colt is coming off a last-start second in the Australian Guineas at Flemington and carries the number one saddlecloth in the 2016 Rosehill Guineas, run at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday March 19.

Tarzino drew gate two for the 2016 Rosehill Guineas with regular rider Craig Newitt in the saddle.

The Kris Lees-trained Le Romain scored an upset win in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) last start and will be out to claim some more major scalps when stepping up in distance for the first time in the 2016 Rosehill Guineas.

Le Romain drew barrier seven with Christian Reith retaining the ride.

Spring Group 1 winner Vanbrugh (Hugh Bowman) returns to Sydney after a last-start sixth in the Australian Guineas and steps up to the 2000-metre distance that saw him win the Spring Champion Stakes, the colt drawing gate 12 for Chris Waller who also has Hursley (Craig Williams) engaged from gate 13.

Crown Oaks winner Jameka adds plenty of interest as the lone filly in the race but may require some Damien Oliver magic after drawing the outside stall.

John O’Shea has a pair of runners in Victoria Derby runner-up Etymology (James McDonald) and Group winner Shards (Sam Clipperton) while Gai Waterhouse brings River Wild (Brenton Avdulla) back to Sydney after campaigning in Melbourne.

Randwick Guineas placegetter Gold Ambition (Tye Angland) drew gate 10 for Bjorn Baker with Anthony Cummings’ progressive stayer Montaigne (Blake Shinn) in stall three.

Desleigh Forster sends her Group 1-placed I’m Belucci (Glen Boss) south for the 2016 Rosehill Guineas with Crosley Hotshot (Kerrin McEvoy), Spanish Stride (Peter Wells) and Oh So Splendido (Opie Bosson) rounding out the field.

Tarzino was away well from the gates and was taken forward from his inside barrier (2) to settle down in fourth position on the fence, about three lengths from the leader I’m Belucci. He settled into a good rhythm and was racing up on the back of the leaders heels on turning for home, when Newitt made his moving closer to the rail. He hit the lead at the 250m and drew right away to a most dominant victory. Montaigne raced in fifth place on the fence. He followed the winner into the race and made his run for home closer to the rail. He battled on gamely staying on well for a good second. Jameka was used up from her outside barrier (14) to race on the quarters of the leader. She took over the lead at the 600m and was left in front along way from home. She battled home gamely in the straight but could not match the finishing burst of the winner back to her inside. Vanbrugh was good in defeat. He was trapped three wide in the run and a long sustained run on the outside of the field to finish a solid but well beaten fourth.
