Rocket Commander settled in nicely outside the leader (Hieroglyphics) and went deep on turning for home. She was under pressure and looked beaten at the 200m but picked up again (inside the wider runners) at the 50m and fought well to score by the narrowest of margins. Hieroglyphics showed good pace to lead, tracked across to the better going (near the outer rail) on straightening and then battled gamely only being headed at the post for a close second. Zestful raced in third place, (three deep) outside the leading pair, challenged at the 100m and then fought well for a close up third while Nancy was fifth to the home turn, briefly looked the winner when she challenged at the 200m, but wilted on that bid under her top weight (58kg) to finish (1.6 lengths) fourth.
