The late breed-shaping stallion Redoute's Choice (Danehill) sired his 174th stakes winner as the Grant and Alana Williams-trained Windstorm (4 g ex Storm Alert by Metal Storm) landed the Weekend Hussler Stakes (Listed, 1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Last seen winning over course and distance on September 26, having run second in the Sofitel Handicap (Listed, 1400m) on his previous start, the four-year-old gelding stayed on strongly all the way to the line to beat Phaistos (Helmet) by three-quarters of a length, while Archedemus (Lope De Vega) was another length and a half further away in third.

Owned and bred by prolific Western Australian owner/breeder Bob Peters, the gelding is out of the 2006 WW Cockram Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) winner Storm Alert (Metal Storm), making him a half-brother to Listed winner Dark Alert (Testa Rossa).

Storm Alert herself is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Hardrada (Marooned) and Group 2 winner Ranger (Testa Rossa).

This is also the family of Listed-scoring pair Lawmaker (Old Spice) and Destroy (Natural Blitz). This year Storm Alert foaled a colt by Newhaven Park-based sire Xtravagant (Pentire).

Redoute's Choice died at Arrowfield Stud in 2019.
