Son of Redoute’s Choice and Snitzel’s half-sister breaks maiden at start No 2.
There aren't many horses racing in Australia who boast the 'stallions' pedigree' of Rediener.
The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old colt is by legendary sire Redoute's Choice out of the More Than Ready mare Wiener, who is a half-sister to Snitzel.
Hence why connections were so keen to see him perform as well as he has at his first two starts.
Rediener broke his maiden when he won the Vinery Stallions Handicap (1400m) at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, which followed a second placing at over the same course and distance at his only other start.
He will need to scale much greater heights if he is to one day command a service like his late sire or uncle, but there was plenty of merit to the maiden win.
He overcame racing in tight room and being severely hampered at the halfway point to accelerate nicely in the straight and defeat fast-finishing stablemate Ring Ahoy and Surf On Turf.
"He's still an inexperienced horse, really only learning his craft and that can knock their confidence, so to be able to lose your momentum and come through a narrow gap and really hit the line gives you a bit of confidence as he's going to go up into stiff opposition," Waller's racing manager Charlie Duckworth said.
Redeiner's dam Wiener failed to win in five starts but did finish third in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) on debut.
She was the third foal from Snippets' Lass and was born the year after Snippets' Lass foaled Snitzel, who was a star of his generation on the track and has won four Australian Champion Sire awards.
Snitzel was not the only sire Snippets' Lass produced, also throwing four-time Group 1 placegetter Hinchinbrook (Fastnet Rock), who produced Group 1 winners including Beat The Clock, Press Statement and Spright before an early demise in 2018.
Snippets' Lass's other Stakes performer was Viennese, a filly by Rediener's sire Redoute's Choice who won the Group 3 Jansz Stakes (1200m) in Adelaide and the Quezette Stakes (1100m) when it was run at Listed level.
*** Rediener's win preceded victory by another blueblood colt at Warwick Farm with his stablemate Great Barrier Reef scoring his first win at start No 3 in the Furphy Plate (1100m).
Great Barrier Reef is a son of champion Yarraman Park stallion I Am Invincible from the Norther Meteor mare Cosmic Endeavour, who was twice a Group 1 winner on the track; the Tatt's Tiara (1400m) and Canterbury Stakes (1300m).
Those bloodlines ensured Great Barrier Reef was popular at last year's Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, where Coolmore's Tom Magnier went to $1.4 million for him.
