Running the rule over Star Turn filly’s performance in Inglis Nursery
The numbers returned by those in Saturday's 1000-metre Inglis Nursery don't compare with the likes of She Will Reign and Extreme Choice, but sit favourably alongside others who have gone onto much bigger and better things.
Star Turn fillySaltaire earned a Timeform rating of 100 for his half-head win over Facile in 56.75 seconds, which was one pound higher than Trapeze Artist filly Facile.
Those numbers are well inferior to headline Nursery winners Extreme Choice (115) and She Will Reign (114), but similar to the other two horses who have gone on to win Group 1 races after winning the Restricted Listed event.
Mossfun was assessed at 99 after her win in 2013, which proved a launching pad to Golden Slipper success, while Wild Ruler went 100 to win the 2019 edition.
Wild Ruler, who won the Nursery in 2019, became the third Inglis Nursery winner, behind Extreme Choice and She Will Reign, to win a Moir Stakes when he won last year's 1000m Group 1 at The Valley.
Outside Extreme Choice and She Will Reign, the highest-rating performances in the 14-year history of the Inglis Nursery are Acrobat (109), Diamond Earth (107) and Accession (105).
