A wrap of the action from Day 2 at the Inglis Classic Sale.
He had to wait until the second-last lot of the day, but Brae Sokolski landed what he deemed the 'colt of the sale' late on Day 2 at the Inglis Classic Sale.
The prominent owner went to $450,000 for the youngster out of Group 3 Blue Diamond Preview winner Limerock (Charge Forward) and by first season stallion Yes Yes Yes, who carried Sokolski's colours to victory in The Everest.
Sokolski said it was hard for him to not be attracted to Yes Yes Yes progeny but this colt was a standout in both his and his blood manager Matt Scown's eyes.
"He's just a beautiful, graceful animal. We thought he was the best colt in the sale and obviously I make all my business and racing decisions very pragmatically but yes, of course, there's that emotional connection to the stallion, too," Sokolski said.
"Matt loved the colt. We've looked at every Yes Yes Yes yearling that's been offered this year and we thought he was a clear standout of all those we'd seen thus far.''
The Yes Yes Yes colt was prepared for sale by Coolmore on behalf of the Kepitis family and will remain in New South Wales with Chris Waller to train.
Sokolski's buy was the headline lot of Day 2 and the fourth highest-priced lot of a sale that has seen $45,632,000 worth of bloodstock change hands at an average of $107,369. The clearance rate is 82 percent.
Last year, at the same stage, the clearance rate was 89 percent with $55,509,000 worth of horseflesh averaging $126,444.
There was one other $400,000-plus yearling on Day 2, a filly by Extreme Choice out of the Onemorenomore mare Lady No More, who sold for $420,000.
She was bought by Bon Ho, who bought The Everest winner Classique Legend out of the same sale six years ago.
"I love the Classic Sale because a lot of good horses come out of the sale and you don't have to pay as big a price as you do at some of the other sales, and they win all of the big races,'' Ho said.
"This filly came highly recommended to me by Lloyd Kennewell, which is why he will train her.
"I have one other Extreme Choice filly and I think she might be very good so I wanted another one and this one was perfect, she was the only Extreme Choice filly in the sale and I wanted her.''
The Extreme Choice filly was offered by Lime Country, who now have two of the top seven lots in the sale, having offered the Ocean Park colt who sold to Belmont Bloodstock for $460,000 on Day 1.
The 2023 Classic Sale continues from 10am Tuesday, when Lots 561-690 will round out Book 1 with an additional 140 lots to go through as the Highway Session.
