A half-brother to King Colorado readjusted the Magic Millions Peth Winter Yearling Sale record in Western Australian on Sunday.

The son of Pride Of Dubai, who is out of the American mare More Aspen, sold to Bjorn Baker on behalf of a Hong Kong client for $260,000.

The chestnut colt bettered the previous record of $200,000, which was set at last year's sale.

Baker was thrilled to get a hold to the colt just a fortnight after his older half-brother, who is the first to race in Australia from More Aspen, won the Group 1 J J Atkins in Brisbane.

"I had a client who was interested in the horse and he is a really nice colt, we were both impressed when we saw him," Baker said.

"We will get him over East and get him going and see what he can do. It's a nice bonus that he is a Magic Millions yearling as well.

"(King Colorado) is a very good horse no doubt about that. He will be able to give this colt a real kick along."

Grant and Alana Williams went to $100,000 to secure the day's second top seller, a colt by Playing God out of Mazij, who is a half-brother to the stakes winner Amanaat, while Adam Durrant paid $90,000 for a Rubick colt from Fiftyshadesofgrey.

The 47 lots who sold at the yearling sale grossed $1,187,000, which is up on last year's $875,000, while the average of $25,255 was up almost 30 percent on last year's $19,022.
