Widden Victoria announces the death of Group 1 winner and enduring stallion.

Robert Crabtree has paid tribute to Magnus, the Group 1 racehorse turned enduring stallion who was this week euthanised after succumbing to age-related issues at the age of 21.

The son of Flying Spur carried Crabtree's red and white Dorrington Farm colours with distinction for 24 starts, which featured Group 1 success in The Galaxy and placings in six other events at the highest level on three continents.

He then spent 15 seasons at stud, starting at Eliza Park, which later became Sun Stud before serving his final seasons at Widden Victoria.

He will be laid to rest alongside his dam Scandinavia, who is also the dam of Black Caviar's mother Helsinge, at Crabtree's Nagambie farm.

"Magnus has been incredible for me and my family, and we feel honored to oversee the final resting place for him with the love, affection and respect, which Magnus both earned and deserves," Crabtree said.

"It is with great gratitude to the Widden Victoria management and staff, we acknowledge the care given to our much loved big man."

Magnus has sired 525 winners at a rate of 72-percent winners-to-runners with progeny who have amassed more than $82 million.

He has produced four winners at the highest level, including two-time Group 1 winners Streets Of Avalon and Malaguerra, plus Magnifisio and Great Shot.
