Pride Of Jenni has already done her bit as a Classic Sale ambassador, but she gets the chance to further highlight the benefits of Inglis's first live offering of the year the day before this year's sale begins.
The Ciaron Maher-trained six-year-old resumes in Saturday's $750,000 C F Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
The daughter of Pride Of Dubai will be chasing a third -straight Group 1 win, having won the Empire Rose Stakes and Champions Mile over 1600 metres at last year's Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Those wins swelled her earnings to a tick over $85,000 short of $3 million, which is 30 times more than Tony Ottobre paid for her at the 2019 Classic Sale, where she was offered by Segenhoe Stud.
Breeders Brent and Cherry Taylor of Trelawney Stud were initially disappointed with that $100,000 purchase price for a filly out of Sancerre, a daughter of Group 1 Vouvray, but they have been thrilled to see her go on and confirm the high opinion they had of her as a yearling.
"She was a really good-looking filly and we decided to take her across to the Classic Sale as that sale had been so successful the year before," Brent Taylor said after her Champions Mile success.
"We were happy to sell her but were disappointed with the price because we thought she was a really good filly.
"It is a family we have had for a long time and it is a family we have had a lot of success with. A lot of good fillies and mares have raced out of that family, and she is another one of that line that has been truly successful and we are proud of her."
Pride Of Jenni has proven that with five wins and eight placings from 25 starts.
She is battling it out for second favouritism behind Mr Brightside with the Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Veight, who is also a Classic graduate.
Veight cost $220,000 at the 2022 Classic Sale and has gone on to win half of his eight starts, including the Group 2 VRC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) at two and the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) at his most recent appearance.
The son of Grunt also beat home all bar Griff in last year's Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m).
Pride Of Jenni and Veight are among many Classic graduates who will be in action on the eve of the 2024 sale, which will run from Sunday to Tuesday at Inglis's Riverside Complex at Warwick Farm.
A number of horses engaged on Saturday have the chance to upgrade the pedigree of youngsters who will be offered, including Fully Lit, favourite for the $2 million Inglis Millennium.
A $60,000 buy at last year's Classic Sale, Fully Lit is out of the Snitzel mare Sunlit who has a filly by North Pacific that will be offered late on Day 3.
At Caulfield, Flattered runs in the Group 2 Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude a day before her half-brother by So You Think is offered by Yarraman Park.
