A number of Kitty Rose’s Royal Ascot rivals are related to horses Aussie fans know well.
Aussie racing fans have had to wait a few days for their second runner of this year's Royal Ascot meeting and it comes up on Day 4, with Kitty Rose runs in the Sandringham Stakes.
The daughter of Invincible Army may not be as true blue as Asfoora, but she makes her stable debut for Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr in the 1609-metre event for three-year-old fillies.
Kitty Rose, who has raced four times in the UK for two wins and two placings, will eventually be exported to Australia, which is where relations to a number of her Sandringham Stakes rivals have performed with distinction.
Flight Of Fancy and Arisaig are from the same family as horses who placed in Melbourne's three biggest races in 2017.
A daughter of Galileo and the Holy Roman Emperor mare Inca Princess, Flight Of Fancy is a sister to Johannes Vermeer, who was runner-up to Rekindling in the 2017 Melbourne Cup, having finished third in the Caulfield Cup 17 days earlier.
Between those two races was the third of Winx's Cox Plate wins, in which Folkswood finished third.
Folkswood, who won the Group 3 Cranbourne Cup the start before the Cox Plate, is out of the Galileo mare Magic Nymph, which makes him a half-sister to Arisaig.
They are not the only rivals of Kitty Rose who have had siblings run in Australia with two others related to horses who, like Johannes Vermeer, carried Lloyd Williams famous navy and white colours.
Shamardal filly Indelible is a half-sister to Midterm, a son of Galileo who won a G3 Manion Cup for Liam Howley before being sold by Williams and won a Kyneton Cup and placed in a G3 Easter Cup for Mick and Luke Cerchi.
Everlasting, an Aidan O'Brien-trained daughter of Kingman, is a half-sister to Adelaide River (Australia), who placed three times at G1 level in Europe but has been down the track in two runs this Queensland Winter Carnival.
Two other Sandringham Stakes winners have links to horses currently campaigning in Australia.
Lou Lou's Gift is a half-sister to Mighty Ulysses, who won the $300,000 Brisbane Mile three starts ago, while Without Words' half-brother Disputed River started his career with Price and Kent but is now with Stuart Kendrick in Queensland, where he has won three times in Brisbane.
The Sandringham Stakes is Race 5 on the Day 4 program at Royal Ascot and will be run at AEST 2.05am Saturday.
