Sister to Thousand Guineas down to debut on Thursday
Just a couple of days after Joliestar launched her spring campaign with a trial win in Sydney, the Thousand Guineas winner's sister will get her racing career underway.
The Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman-trained Legacy Bay is an acceptor for Thursday's $37,500 Apiam Animal Health 2YO Maiden Plate (1100m) at Bendigo.
Legacy Bay will become the sixth to race from Fastnet Rock mare Jolie Bay, a sister to Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes and Royal Ascot winner Merchant Navy whose best product is Joliestar.
That daughter if Zoustar, who is also the sire of Legacy Bay, is yet to finish further back than second in six starts with her biggest success coming in last year's Thousand Guineas.
Jolie Bay is also the dam of Matthew Dunn-trained multiple city winner Emperor and True Legend, a five-time winner in Hong Kong.
Legacy Bay made her first appearance at the jumpouts in December, finishing third over 750m, while she had two hit-outs earlier this month.
After a fourth placing over 800m on July 2, she finished third placing over 900m six days later.
Legacy Bay, who will be ridden by Luke Nolen, was allocated barrier 15 at Bendigo but is likely to come in a few spots with six emergencies drawn into the field that is limited to 14 starters.
