Naynay Can Bounce Back

3 minute read

Handy galloper Naynay can bounce back to winning form in today's Casino RSM Club Beef Week Cup (race 7) at Casino.

The six-year-old had little go right in a tougher race in town last time and from a better draw and the limit weight looks a great each-way chance in today's 1400m open handicap.

Naynay, who was formerly trained in North Queensland and had a good record there, is now with Stephen Jones on the Gold Coast.

He has raced for his new stable in five runs this campaign and although yet to win has run some good races in Brisbane.

He resumed over 1005m at Ballina in slow ground and after sitting second throughout fought on well for a neck third behind Show A Lion Heart, who has franked the form again since.

Naynay then stepped up to 1200m at Eagle Farm and again sat on the speed, fighting on well for another close-up third, this time behind Dee Bee Nine.

To Doomben over 1200m he drew the inside gate and sat off the speed, not having a lot of luck in the straight but finishing on for a three length fifth behind Danagaze.

He then went to 1400m on slow ground at Eagle Farm and settled fourth. Turning there he was seemingly in the worst going there as the swoopers ran on, finishing fifth and beaten 3.5 lengths behind Dee Bee Nine again.

Last start, over 1350m at Doomben, he drew off the track and went back to worse than midfield.

He was blocked for a run there and went to the line finishing 10th but beaten 3.2 lengths behind Blazing Hearts.

He should have finished far closer and that form augers well for this grade today.

He rises a kilo but is on the minimum weight and has drawn better.

He has an honest record in the conditions, will run the trip and with better luck this time should be hard to hold out.

The topweight In A Bind was another to come through the same Blazing Hearts race who had no luck.

The gelding has an honest overall record and is no stranger to city grade.

Fresh-up this time in he kicked off in a Class 6 over 1200m at Eagle Farm where he tried to lead throughout and was there until the last stride before being grabbed on the line by Favela Star.

Last start, over 1350m at Doomben, he drew awkwardly and pressed forward, settling third but trapped deep.

He endured a tough run there throughout and faded in the run home to finish 13th. He finished half a length behind Naynay.

He has drawn wide again and is up in weight but should give a big sight.

Mr Braveheart has been racing well in easier grade but drops nicely in the weights today.

He was just edged out at Grafton last start with 58kg from a wide gate but drops 4kg and should be running on.

Bondit comes back in trip but is at his top and relishes the softer track, while Civita is best over further but does have a good fresh-up record.
