Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for January 7.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Taree, Hamilton and Ipswich.
TAREE: RACE 8 @ 5:30 PM
SOLUTIONIST (11) has been just behind the placegetters at his two runs this time in work, the latest a 1.2 length sixth over 1258m at this track when he copped a check close to home. Ready to peak third-up and Gibbons taking over is a tick. SMART SERENADE (7) won a Class 1 over this course and distance two runs back then struggled in a much better race at Newcastle last time. Draws the fence and is back in his right grade so watch for a return to form. TOOMUCHINFORMATION (6) raced keenly up front with blinkers on last start and tired late at the end of 1200m at Port Macquarie. Steps up to his pet trip today and the gear comes off. Should be peaking. The consistent ISLAND LEGEND (8) won by the barest margin over 1258m here last time. Won't find this any harder so he comes under notice again. ZARU (5) has an incredible thirteen top three finishes from fourteen runs here. Always a threat in this sort of race.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Solutionist.

HAMILTON: RACE 8 @ 5:00 PM
FRAWLEY (2) is in a top metro barn and is ready to win. Drops in grade off a 2L defeat at Geelong 30 days ago and has a handy 2kg claim. Expect him to control the race from the inside barrier. THE BRILL BUILDING (8) has switched from an Adelaide barn on a 45-day return. Had no luck at Morphettville last time but just missed first-up there prior. Maps well and John Allen is a positive jockey engagement. SWANNY DEE (3) built on the first-up Maiden win with a half-length defeat here this grade/trip. Has a handy 2kg claim and is sure to keep improving. DIVINE TURF (15) gives away starts but rates well at best and we will see more second-up with Yendall going aboard. AMIZETTA (12) resumes and is good enough to keep safe.
SELECTIONS: Backing Frawley.
IPSWICH: RACE 1 @ 2:45 PM
WHATTA MISSION (4) just missed the placings at Mackay on debut when well in the betting before running into one better at the latest effort. Looks to be improving with racing and the extra furlong suits. Stanley sticks in the stirrups and should go very close to shedding the maiden tag. INSIDE PASSAGE (1) is facing the starter for the first time but has shown ability at the trials and is sure to be well-educated from the Kendrick barn. Respect any positive market moves. WOLLZEILE (8) wasn't too far away on debut and will have derived a stack of benefit from that day at the races. Can improve enough to feature in the finish. DECEITFUL MISS (5) wasn't disgraced when at the races for the first time and is drawn to get a soft run in transit from the inside alley. In the mix for some minor money. TORQUE SO RARE (3) is another first starter who should be kept safe.
SELECTIONS: Whatta Mission on top in the opener.
