Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for January 9.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Wagga, Sale, Rockhampton, Geraldton and Ballina.
WAGGA: RACE 2 @ 2:25 PM
MISS FENNELL (12) was an eye-catcher fresh on the Riverside surface when flashing home from a rearward position. Is sure to have come on with that run under her belt and has gun hoop in Heywood sticking. The one to beat. DARN HOT MISS (10) was solid late to the line first-up at Corowa. Better for that and is in the mix. ROULLOTTIE (5) returns off a short break for Michael Travers and has enough early dash to utilise the inside pillar. Blinkers go on first time to sharpen her up. Expect her to bounce straight to the front and give a sight. DEODEE (11) best of the rest.
SELECTIONS: Miss Fennell hard to beat.

SALE: RACE 4 @ 3:00 PM
BLACKLIST (1) has had a few chances to win his maiden but does look well placed to do so here, trying hard at Moonee Valley behind one with good maiden form in Zourain last time out. Prior to that, he'd started $2.10 in a good maiden at Hawkesbury, again finishing second, and out to 1717m from the inside draw, he should take plenty of catching. EMPHASIZE (4) found the line very nicely on debut at this track over 1400m to grab a narrow third. He'll likely be back in the field again but the rise in trip suits and he'll be very hard to hold out. GEEMES (10) ran well on debut at Cranbourne over 1400m, only beaten 2.25 lengths into fourth. She draws well and can measure up. I'M MIM (8) has been about the mark of late and rates an each-way chance.
SELECTIONS: Blacklist to win.
ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 3 @ 4:27 PM
AIN'T NOBODY (2) ìs ex-Neasham and found more like his best narrowly beaten over a mile second-up heavily supported. He has to come back 300m but races forward and is capable of going one better. ONE PERCENT (1) is a leader who was expected to win comfortably here three weeks ago but he didn't fire on the wet track. Wiggins stays aboard and fitter deserves another chance. MOMENT OF TRUTH (3) resumes and has switched from a Victorian yard and is good enough to feature if presented on song. Brings a tidy trial and has a handy 3kg claim and the first-time blinkers applied. That signals intent but the betting will be key. MISS PALLADIUM (6) switched from the Vandyke yard and showed enough at Mackay to consider. Has an awkward barrier but Stanley rides and that helps. BOYFRIEND MATERIAL (9) is also a hope in a good contest.
SELECTIONS: Ain't Nobody each way.
GERALDTON: RACE 3 @ 2:22 PM
ARTERRE (4) rates well and will appreciate the step-up to a mile. He is likely to sit closer and he gets the nod. DIVERSE (9) has been racing well enough and coming back 300m may assist. She gets her chance in this contest. BIG BONED BAZ (2) mixes the form and didn't have the best of it last time. Led and found one better three back over this distance and that form would have him in the finish. WHAITIRI (7) resumes for a new stable and owns a solid trial. Has the outside gate but is good enough at best.
SELECTIONS: Going with Arterre.
BALLINA: RACE 7 @ 5:55 PM
BEAN BALL (2) had a change of stables and a year between runs before a game second over 1200m at Warwick on Boxing Day. Has the gate speed to cross from the wide draw and control things. Fitter and a clear top pick. EMOTIONAL APPEAL (9) raced wide throughout so her effort to be beaten just 3.7 lengths in a 1205m Coffs Harbour maiden last start was satisfactory. Might be the big improver with the help of the inside draw. NEXT PAY RUN (12) hasn't been all that far away in her two runs this time in work, most recently at Coffs Harbour over 1205m. Returned a good figure at this stage last prep when close up at Mornington. Can win if she recaptures that form. FLASH ONE HEY (4) pulled up with an elevated heart rate at the Gold Coast last time so forget the run. Subsequent trial winner who can measure up in this company. TORQUE OF DREAMS (14) returns from a seven-month spell. Struggled last prep but is worth including in this line up if there is any market support.
SELECTIONS: Bean Ball to win a race smashed by scratchings.
