Progressive galloper Nextanix can record his biggest career win in today's Goulburn Workers Club Goulburn Cup (race 7).
The lightly-raced gelding has been racing in top form in town and looks hard to hold out over the mile today from a good draw.
Prepared by Kerry Parker at Kembla Grange, the gelding charged home at his final run of his last campaign over 1500m at Rosehill and was runner up.
Nextanix resumed over 1400m at Randwick on the Kensington track and after getting back to near last came with a powerful finish to score a head win over Oakfield Comet.
He then stepped up to a mile, his first try at the trip, at Randwick where he went off the favourite.
Getting back to last and racing there throughout, he showed his usual big finish and ran on hard but ran out of ground when a neck runner up behind Hard Liquor.
Today he tackles the open class horses over the same journey but gets in with just 53kg and will be fitter again.
He will be camped back off then but hard to hold out in the straight.
The Guy Walter trained Straight Albert has placed at both runs this campaign and looks suited by the mile now.
The gelding resumed over 1200m at Randwick and got back to near last from the wide gate before running on well for a four length second.
He then went to 1400m at Randwick and again drew wide, settling midfield and turning there before again running on well, this time finishing third behind Mossamine.
The extra journey suits now and he is fitter for the two runs back.
He has the minimum weight, a good draw and Walter's regular rider Kathy O'Hara stays aboard.
The gelding should be hard to hold out.
One Way Ticket finished just ahead of Straight Albert last time and looks a leading player as well.
The Robert Price trained gelding was well held behind easy winner Sompin Anypin fresh but last start over the 1400m at Randwick raced close to the speed throughout before finishing runner up.
He finished three quarters of a length ahead of Straight Albert but meets him half a kilo worse at the weights here.
The gelding is fitter again and looks ready for the extra journey now. He's drawn well and should be prominent throughout.
Rockin' Rocket gave a big sight in the Muswellbrook Cup last time and although drawn wide here should be in the lead and hard to run down again.
Theophorus was placed behind Somepin Anypin last time which is good form for this and is another who will give a sight on the speed.
