Handy galloper Dashing Stars should be hard to hold out when he contests today's IASBet.com Handicap (race 6) at Seymour.
The Shane Fliedner-trained grey looks likely to get the race run to suit in this showcase RB72 over 1600m and should be hard to hold out.
The gelding had a long campaign last time in and although failed to break through ran some good races, placed to 2000m and tested up to 2400m at his last run before a break where it was a dash home and he could manage only sixth.
After a spell he resumed over 1300m at Bendigo and after settling last and turning there hit the line hard to finish a 2.3 length fourth.
He then stepped up to 1400m last time at Ballarat and again settled last but charged home in the straight to finish third, this time beaten only half a length behind Secret Stealth.
He is fitter now and looks suited by the extra ground but perhaps more importantly there will be pace in the race.
Dashing Stars drops 4kg to the minimum today and has the strong Craig Newitt aboard.
With a good run behind them he should be hard to hold out.
The Heath Conners-trained Condahussler is racing well and is the one to catch.
The gelding ran many lengths below his best fresh up over 1`400m when racing on the speed and dropping right out.
But next start over the same journey he took up the running from the inside gate and stole a big break around the bend, cruising to a 3.3 length win.
Again at 1412m last time at Geelong, he tackled an RB68 showcase race and drew the outside gate.
But after quickly crossing he didn't give his rivals a chance, as he led out by a space and kept going, scoring a 2.5 length win.
The gelding steps up to a mile now but has placed at his only try.
He rises in grade and also in weight but has drawn well and there's no doubt he'll look a winning chance for much of the straight.
Fantastic Porscha has been thereabouts lately and should be doing his best work late.
The gelding raced over 1409m at Pakenham three back and after settling second last and turning there ran on hard to finish runner up.
Up to 1770m there next start she drifted back but had the tempo against and in a dash home battled into fifth.
Last start, over a mile in a showcase race at Bendigo, she settled last and was there throughout before running on strongly to finish a 1.7 length third.
Today the gelding is well poised to camp off the good speed and with a lighter weight should be hitting the line strongly again.
Sambora is an interesting runner who could end up the fly in the ointment today.
The gelding is a natural runner so ordinarily would be suited here in the small field but meeting another in Condahussler they might bring each other undone.
If they don't cut at each other, Sambora will be on the pace from the outset and will give a big sight.
If they do go strongly as expected, Van Halo gets the chance to run into the finish second up.
