Rock Princess will be out to continue her good form this preparation in the Champagne Pommery Awards RST 89 (1600m) at Sandown today.
The Chris Hyland-trained runner has been up for a while this campaign but has maintained her form throughout the preparation and drops back in grade for this after a luckless run at Moonee Valley last start, but closed well late for third over the mile.
Rock Princess won her three starts prior to that in similar company to this and looks hard to go past here with 3kg claim by apprentice jockey and will get a good run from barrier 5.
She rates the best on weight adjusted Timeform ratings and looks to be the one to beat in this field.
Jockey Bradley Wallace has had just the one ride on her which yielded a win at this course and expecting him to get the job done again in this.
Her record on rain affected tracks is very good winning three and placing a further three times so the Heavy 10 at present will not be an issue.
Andromache won three win a row before a trip to Queensland in search for black type which only yielded a moderate result at Ipswich before running midfield in open company at Flemington last start.
She looks better suited back to the midweeks and on best form should be in the mix here.
No Manners from the Robert Smerdon yard also rates a mention in this after winning her last two starts. She followed up an all the way win at Bendigo with another bold front-running win at Geelong last start over 1900m.
Finds herself in a tougher race here and is back to the mile but is racing well and must be respected in this.
The best of the rest appears to be last start winner Treasury Notes who won in similar company last start and rates a genuine chance here. She is down on the limit and from barrier 8 is likely to push forward and settle up on the pace.
There appears to be a bit of speed on in this which will suit Rock Princess who likes to get back in the run.
It looms as a very competitive race but on current form Rock Princess should make a return to the winners circle in this.
Enjoy the race.
