The progressive Shiraz should return to the winner’s circle in the final event at Wellington on Monday.
Shiraz contests the State Wide Sheds Open Hanidcap (1100m) where the four-year-old son of Zariz is the clear up and comer of the event.
His rivals are all exposed types while Shiraz has quickly worked through his grades during a five start career to date.
Opinions of Shiraz are high with connections taking the gelding to Canterbury second run from a spell following his convincing first up victory at Dubbo.
While slow away, Shiraz stuck to his task well and finished a close sixth.
Against far lesser opposition on Monday, Shiraz should live up to favouritism status at Wellington on Monday.
The State Wide Sheds Open Handicap (1100m) has just three horses inside the handicap.
Shiraz sits marginally outside of it however compared to the majority of the field, is well weighted.
His main dangers all sit above him in the weights with Star Of Dubai the clear second elect.
Star Of Dubai resumed well at Gilgandra last start, running third in the Town Plate (1100m).
The six-year-old settled back and rattled home well on that occasion and will no doubt take benefit from the outing.
He is yet to run out of the money in three prior second up outings and expect no different here.
Star Of Dubai rates highly amongst this field and should be prominent at the finish.
A case can be made for this event being a race in two but minor claims can be made for the resuming pair of Reece and Ten To Zero.
Shiraz should put this lot away rather comfortably as he looks toward bigger and better things.
