Trixie Well Placed For Back To Back Wins

3 minute read

Trixie proved too strong at Goulburn last start and looks hard to go past once again in the Gundillawah Pastoral Co Benchmark 65 (1300m) at Wagga today.

The Ken Callaughan-trained runner appreciated the dry track at Goulburn last start and overcame difficulty in the run to score a solid win over this trip.

The six-year-old mare blundered on jumping before being blocked in the straight, running out a 0.8L winner in the end.

Trixie has a solid record at the course and has won two of four over this trip but may need some luck from the wide gate.

Her last start effort rates very well on weight adjusted Timeform ratings in this company and John Kissick remains on board having rode the mare at Goulburn last start.

Likely to settle back from the wide draw and generally begins slowly, but will be running on strongly over the concluding stages and will be hard to hold out.

Zarreig has also been racing well in recent times, winning at Narrandera last start and has been in the finish, a majority of his runs this campaign.

Has 61kg to carry today but Nick Souquet who has a very good record on the gelding goes back on board and is worth plenty of thought in this.

Commence also rates a mention having placing in her last four outings. Made up a stack of ground to finish runner up over 1175m at Albury last time and must be respected on that effort.

Has a fine record at this trip and does not look far away from a win and should be right in the finish of this one.

For Mia[ has been solid enough in two runs this campaign and Showed nice improvement second up to finish third to Zarreig over 1400m at Narrandera. Should continue to progress today and has a fine place strike rate so a must for the multiples.

The resuming Five Pennies also has claims having not been seen since winning over the mile at Canberra in April.

Only been to the races four times and did win on debut so he comes to hand quickly. One to watch.

Lachlan Lilly has not won in a long time but can also force her way into the placings along with Texan Son who loves the track and should go well fresh.
