The Ten Bob looks a terrific winning hope when he steps out in race seven at Terang today.
The Ten Bob is only lightly raced, having faced the starter just six times to this point, but he has shown good ability.
He's twice a winner, and worth noting that both of those success' have come first time out.
In fact, in three first up runs he has those two wins and a good third in which he ran ahead of market expectation.
On the topic of performing above market expectation it is worth mentioning that the Purcell yard has turned a profit on turnover this season of +29.2%.
Much of this comes from one winner, Pont Royale, but the stable also turns a profit away from that winner when teaming up with jockey Ed Creighton who rides today.
Creighton and Purcell have combined for three winners this season in a dozen rides. A small sample size but some evidence that the pair work well together.
One pair that does work well together is Darren Weir and John Allen.
The pair strike at 19% together (with over 100 rides) and they team up today with the main danger Sava Nugget.
Save Nugget returned a winner last time out, putting up a promising performance for the campaign ahead, and this looks a suitable race for him now.
The query is an awkward draw, and the fact that he is 0/3 second up, but he certainly looks the biggest threat to The Ten Bob.
General Offer is the other expected to be high up in markets and thinking for today's race after his pleasing return second last time.
That effort certainly has him in the mix here but he has slipped out to eight runs without a win now and lacks the upside that the other contenders have.
For one outside of the market Grassmere Mookta is interesting.
He's racing well, a last start winner, and he has placed 3/4 at his fourth run back in the past.
Expecting him to be running well today at around the $15.00 mark.
