Northern Lyric will be looking to return to the winners circle when dropping back in grade to contest the Woodside Park BM 70 (1850m) at Kyneton today.
The Hayes & Dabernig-trained runner put two wins together earlier in the preparation and has been far from disgraced in two runs since in tougher company.
The four-year-old gelding finished seventh, beaten 3.5L at Moonee Valley last start over the mile and steps up in trip here.
Northern Lyric Right up in the weights again with 60.5kg to carry but does not meet an overly strong field and can return to the winners circle here.
Only concern looks to be the 1850m but would expect him to go forward again today and take plenty of running down.
Spellrocker has also been racing in tougher of late, not having much luck at Moonee Valley last start. Form prior to that was good and despite her last win coming over a year ago, is one to keep an eye on today.
Untried over the 1850m but struggled to see out the 2040m last start and may appreciate the drop back in trip for this.
Kerthos ran on very well at Flemington last start after he was inconvenienced at the start and that effort brings him into his. Long time between wins but will find this an easier task and is worth thought.
Winning jockey Luke Currie goes back on board today and his best form measures up pretty well against these.
Rebel Force was okay when resuming at Echuca last start over the mile and will appreciate the step up in trip for this.
Rates well on the back of that effort and certainly has no issues with the 1850m on offer here.
Expect him to be around the mark and is worth an each way ticket.
