Last Chance For Brahma Circus

3 minute read

Perennial placegetter Brahma Circus is yet to break through this preparation, but arguably gets his best chance, when set to contest the final event in Singapore this evening.

Trained by Michael Freedman, the son of Darci Brahma has placed in all four starts this time in, including two second placings.

His latest performance saw him narrowly beaten, when only swamped late in the piece, at this track over 1200m.

Given a peach of a ride by Corey Brown, Brahma Circus appeared the winner on straightening, before just tiring late.

Dropping back to 1100m, should aid his chances and although unable to win, he was rated up to his best form last start.

Leading rider Corey Brown sticks aboard, having placed in all four attempts aboard the three-year-old.

In solid form of late, Brown has saluted aboard five of his last 20 favourites ridden, including nine minor placings.

From the awkward draw, Brahma Circus is likely to roll forward and settle just off the speed, with the Shane Baertschiger trained Federer expected to press forward from the wide alley.

In a race with good speed engaged — Soul Commander, Crazy Times, Master Dragon and Racer King are all capable of being on-speed.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings, Brahma Circus appears well placed, while also boasting stronger formlines than a majority of his rivals.

When taking a line through both Eva's Day and My Lucky Strike, he appears open to further improvement and is the clear stand-out selection.

Returning to the scene of the crime of his very impressive maiden win (six lengths), Brahma Circus should prove hard to beat.

The Mark Walker trained Soul Commander shapes as one of the main dangers, following a solid performance last start, when only weakening late in the piece.

He too is expected to appreciate the drop back in trip and looks to get a charmed run from the inside draw.

In-form rider Michael Rodd links back aboard, having previously placed on the six-year-old.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings, his latest performance sees him rate well and a repeat of that level of performance, should see him right around the mark.

In-form galloper Federer takes another step up this evening, but is obviously hard to fault on recent efforts.

A dominant winner in Kranji Stakes D company two back, the son of Swiss Ace would again prove too good when saluting at this track last start.

Rising three-and-a-half kilograms from that win remains one of his biggest obstacles, along with drawing the widest alley.

Nonetheless he is only lightly raced and appears to be putting it all together now.

A winner of two of his eight starts, he has steadily improved with each performance and shapes as one of the leading hopes.

Of the rest the Hideyuki Takaoka trained Tou Shou Bright appears the next best, following his solid return last start, when finishing a narrow second.

Having gone to the paddock in fine order, the son of Carry The Flag picked up, right where he left off, with a solid on-pace performance.

On Timeform ratings, he improved his career peak marginally and should show good improvement racing second up.

Stepping out for just his fifth start in Singapore, he possesses good scope and looks to get a good run in transit from the favourable draw.

On exposed form he currently sits a notch below his main rivals, however he looks to be heading in the right direction and must be respected.

Good luck and happy punting.
