Slydini To Salute At Kembla

3 minute read

Slydini can build upon a first up win in the Corrimal Class 1 Handicap at Kembla Grange on Thursday.

The Joe Pride-trained gelding resumed at Gosford three weeks ago as a clear odds on favourite and duly delivered for punters.

While not as effortless as $1.50 shots should be winning, the Magic Albert gelding got the job done on a testing track against more seasoned rivals and would have derived benefit from the run.

On Thursday, Slydini contests a strong Class 1 Handicap at Kembla Grange however arguably has the greatest sense of timing about him.

Slydini returned a Timeform rating of 77 on resuming at Gosford.

This figure is seven pounds below his master Timeform rating of 84 achieved on debut at Gosford during the summer.

It highlights the improvement Slydini is open to second up with added fitness, rising to 1200m and with firmer footing underneath.

Jumping from the widest alley, jockey Tim Clark will likely roll forward and settle the gelding outside the lead or even have him dictating terms.

He should take plenty of catching in the straight despite taking on some useful opposition.

The first of them is the Chris Waller-trained Country Warrior.

Country Warrior possesses some solid metropolitan form having broken maiden status last preparation at Canterbury.

He has trialled over 1030m at Rosehill a fortnight ago in readiness for this and has the potential to be firing fresh.

Hugh Bowman staying aboard following the trial is an encouraging one and watch for the pair to be working into calculations late.

Heshima was underwhelming on resuming at this course and distance 19 days ago.

The gelding has been a frustrating prospect for the John O’Shea stable having shown an abundance of promise intermittently through his six start career to date.

The son of Shamardal has a tongue tie applied for the first time on Thursday which perhaps provides insight into his battling 6.7 length third as one of the favourites here on resuming.

He also has the in form Blake Shinn aboard which can only be considered a positive.

Macedonianprincess ran well above market expectations on resuming here 19 days ago.

Her maiden win was most impressive and while this shapes as a noticeable class rise, the filly will strip fitter second up and it could be a case of the penny having dropped this preparation.

The daughter of Real Saga was transferred to Gwenda Markwell during her latest spell who has seemingly found the key to the three-year-old.

The Corrimal Class 1 Handicap at Kembla Grange on Thursday has the potential to be a strong form reference moving forward.

Of the eight runners contesting the event, Skydini appears the one most worth watching in the second event of the day and moving forward.
