No Risk With Rockefeller

3 minute read

The Stephen Burridge trained Risky Rockefeller brought up back to back wins in impressive fashion last start and appears well placed to bring up the hat-trick at Singapore this evening.

Due to contest the eighth event, the son of Muqbil has now won three of his four career starts and is clearly a galloper heading in the right direction.

Formerly trained by Frankie Stockdale in Victoria, Risky Rockefeller joined Burridge's team mid-way through last year.

An impressive winner in his Singapore debut, the five-year-old was then spelled before making his return last start.

Stepping out over 1200m, he simply proved too good for his rivals when taking full advantage of a gem of a ride from Corey Brown.

Tracking the speed nicely in fourth, Risky Rockefeller always travelled powerfully and when let rip inside the 200m he quickly put the race away.

Eased down late he went to the line to score by two lengths and returned a new career peak in the process.

Only lightly raced he remains open to good improvement and gives the impression that in time he will get out over further.

Admittedly tonight is his toughest test, but he does receive some needed weight relief and has again drawn to receive all the favours.

Leading jockey Corey Brown continues his association with the promising type and is enjoying a great run of form this season.

Brown currently leads the Jockeys' Premiership on 18 wins and is boasting a strike rate just shy of 20 per cent.

Manoel Nunes and fellow ex-pat Danny Beasley lie in second on 14 wins.

Brown notably will make the trip back home on Saturday where he will ride current Group 1 Coolmore Classic favourite Ghisoni.

From the favourable draw Risky Rockefeller is expected to enjoy a beautiful run in transit and if able to continue his upwards rating spiral he should prove very hard to beat.

Stablemate Vanderbilt won impressively in his Singapore debut before only fair in his two starts prior to a break.

Since spelled he is proven to perform well fresh and if able to return at his best, he is well placed under the weight scale.

The much in-form Danny Beasley links aboard for the first time and is expected to roll forward from the awkward draw.

The decision to line up over 1200m is some query given his three wins to this point have all been over 1000m.

Nonetheless he rates well using Timeform weight adjusted ratings and trust Burridge to have him spot on for his return.

Whether he can beat his stablemate remains to be seen, however he is capable and has to be respected.

The Alvin Tan trained Nova Strike didn't have a lot of luck at this track last start when forced to come from towards the rear over 1400m.

Notably hit the line well on that occasion and although finishing seventh he wasn't beaten far and appears suited dropping back to 1200m.

Winning jockey Manoel Nunes links back aboard and while drawn out he can roll forward and negate this hindrance.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings he measures right up on best form and shapes as one of the leading contenders.

The Cliff Brown trained Divided House failed to fire last start but is clearly better than that and is worth another chance off a slight freshen (31 days).

She possesses a great record at this course and distance and has since trialled well in the lead up.

Unfortunately she has drawn wide but is capable and must be respected.

Good luck and happy punting.
