The Laurie Laxon trained Mr Scorsese displayed plenty of ability during his maiden preparation and appears well placed to make a winning return in Singapore this evening.
Due to contest the fifth event, the son of Pentire displayed above average ability during his maiden preparation and is unbeaten in his sole attempt on the polytrack.
Ear-marked early as a leading Singapore Guineas contender, Mr Scorsese notably started the $3.60 favourite in the Group 2 Singapore 3YO Classic, when finishing fifth behind Debt Collector. On that occasion he was only beaten 3.5L and while failing to fire in the Guineas he had clear excuses and was a complete forgive run.
He then proceeded to finish fourth behind Cyborg prior to a break when sent out the even money favourite.Again not racing with much luck, Mr Scorsese hit the line well late and while he may find the 1200m a touch short, his class should carry him a long way.
His first two victories were ultra impressive and with two trials under his belt he should be forward enough to sprint well fresh.Leading rider Vlad Duric sticks aboard having ridden the four-year-old in all five of his career starts.
Overall Duric strikes at just shy of 20 per cent with the Laurie Laxon stable and should be able to adopt a favourable position from the rails draw. When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, Mr Scorsese holds a clear edge over his rivals and in truth he has always indicated he would contest stronger company.
Just whether he is looking for further remains the big query however he still looks to set a decent standard.Three-year-old Jupiter Gold also creates plenty of interest as while failing to live up to market expectations at his last two starts, he is clearly more than capable.
An impressive winner at his first two starts, Jupiter Gold went on to place in the lead up to the Golden Horseshoe before failing to fire as favourite in the feature event. All in all he displayed plenty of ability and while some query lining up against the older horses, he still appears more than capable.
Jupiter Gold is unbeaten in both attempts on the polytrack and though he only has the sole trial under his belt, he found the line nicely on that occasion when sixth behind War Affair.Trained by Hideyuki Takaoka, Jupiter Gold simply may have come to the end of his preparation in the Golden Horseshoe and remains under strong notice fresh.
Alan Munro links aboard for the first time and notably possesses a decent record with the Takaoka stable. From the inside draw he is likely to adopt a prominent position and should give Mr Scorsese a decent marker to run at.
The Cliff Brown trained Lim's Archer returned with a solid performance last start and remains open to good improvement racing second up.Only lightly raced, Lim's Archer has placed in four of his nine attempts and the decision by Michael Rodd to stick aboard is a good push for his chances.
He has placed in two of four attempts over this trip and while drawn a touch awkwardly he is still expected to be right around the mark.Of the rest the Patrick Shaw trained Quicksilver appears the next in line as while off the scene for a lengthy period (364 days), he is still more than capable.
A winner of one of his six starts, Quicksilver has displayed good ability and has had a number of trials (25/07, 08/09, 15/09 and 29/09) leading into this first up run.Nooresh Juglall continues his association with the five-year-old and while drawn off the track he still remains under strong notice.
Good luck and happy punting.
