Lim’s Cruiser To Win Again

3 minute read

Emerging galloper Lim’s Cruiser appears well placed to continue his winning run when due to contest the fifth event at Kranji this evening.

Trained by Stephen Gray, Lim's Cruiser is clearly heading in the right direction and comes into this after taking another step forward last start when simply dominant over 1400m.

Only lightly raced the son of Casino Prince notched up his third win from seven starts (just his fifth attempt in Singapore).

An ultra impressive winner two back over the mile, Lim's Cruiser found little issue with the drop back in trip when again too good.

Clearly appreciating the strong tempo set by the Desmond Koh trained Sun Empire, Lim's Cruiser settled beautifully towards the rear under Vlad Duric.

Beginning his run passing the 600m, Lim's Cruiser began to work his way through the field before pulling to the extreme outside on straightening.

Allowed to work through his gears, Lim's Cruiser loomed ominously passing the 400m before quickly taking over inside the 300m.

Displaying a very sharp turn of foot, Lim's Cruiser quickly drew clear stamping his authority over the concluding stages to salute by two-and-a-half lengths.

From his last two starts Lim's Cruiser has improved 10 pounds and is clearly a galloper heading in the right direction.

The clock once again backed up the strength of his performance and Gray certainly has a very nice horse on his hands — in truth he could easily be unbeaten in his five starts in Singapore.

Very few/if any horses can keep recording new career peaks each time they step out, so when you find one that can you try and stick with them.

Following his victory two back Gray suggested Lim's Cruiser could prove a Derby contender in time and although a lofty claim, he is ticking all the right boxes to this point.

Whether he will reach those heights remains to be seen however he should have no concerns working through his grades.

Lim's Cruiser has proven quite adaptable in his races and from the rails draw Vlad Duric should be able to ride the race as he sees it.

Although rising 4kg at the weights, Lim’s Cruiser still appears well placed and if able to continue his progression he looks to set a fairly lofty target for his rivals.

Lim’s Cruiser is unbeaten in his sole attempt at the mile and appears well on track to notch up his fourth win from seven starts.

The Cliff Brown trained Zeus returned in good order behind the talented Magnum last start and looms as a major threat stepping up in trip.

A winner of four of his 21 starts, Zeus has placed on a further nine occasions and has placed in five of eight attempts over the mile.

On career best form he appears more than capable and does receive the added bonus of CC Wong’s claim.

From the middle draw he can adopt a fairly prominent position and should be in this for a long way.

Stablemate Magstock went to the paddock in great order and has to be respected racing first up.

Successful in notching up back-to-back wins prior to a break, Magstock has never missed the money fresh and is more than capable of performing well over the mile.

At the weights he certainly gets his chance and remains under strong notice with Rizuan Shafiq aboard.

Of the rest the Patrick Shaw trained Big Brother appears the next in line following an impressive win in lesser company last start.

Admittedly this is obviously harder however he is only lightly raced and he too remains open to further improvement.

In six attempts over the mile he has placed in five and although drawn awkwardly he still shapes as one of the leading contenders.

Good luck and happy punting.
