Early mail and best exotic plays for Randwick on May 8 from Chris Scholtz.
RANDWICK SATURDAY
RACE 2 (7) SAIGON TEA: Chris Waller-trained mare who has been placed up to 1900m and is well placed to tackle 2000m for the first time after a run of consistent form in shorter races when things haven’t panned out in her favour. Struck trouble but recovered well for her last start third over 1580m at Canterbury and should find the switch to the big Randwick to her liking, especially carrying 3kg less on a heavy track as she has the superior wet track form in this field with three wins from four starts in slow and heavy going.
RACE 6 (9) TERRITORY: Has been a seriously underestimated sprinter who went for a short break at the end of March after two excellent wins at Rosehill and Warwick Farm on slow tracks carrying up to 59kg. Ready to start off again in the same vein as he showed he was still in the right form with an easy trial win over 900m at Rosehill on May 27. Can sprint to the line hard at the end of his races and should be well suited as the speed in this race will give him the last shot at them.
RACE 8 (11) FROZEN ROPE: Has put in two strong efforts since resuming that point to him hitting his best from, especially as he will be racing on his favoured conditions as he is a superior wet track performer with three wins and four placings from his eight starts in the slow and heavy. Closed late to be narrowly beaten by the in-form Timeless Prince over 1500m at Rosehill last Saturday under 58kg and will be a big threat under these heavy conditions carrying only 52.5kg.
