The best bets come early in Randwick’s June Stakes meeting on Saturday.
The races become increasingly open as the afternoon progresses at Randwick on Saturday but smaller fields early on offer up a couple of enticing wagering prospects.
Once touted as a leading Golden Slipper chance, Holler resumes in the Australian Jewellery Liquidators Plate (1100m).
A temperature derailed his autumn however now back for a winter campaign, the colt appears set to work through the grades and quickly.
Holler returns to the course and distance at which he recorded a debut victory when prominent throughout before dashing to a 1.3 length success.
He beat subsequent Group 3 winner Fireworks on that occasion while running to a Timeform rating of 100p in the process.
It has him sitting at the top of this field on weight adjusted Timeform ratings where only Coys and Kimberley Star have the figures to challenge.
Coys is a workmanlike colt and while Kimberley Star placed in her two career outings late last year.
Holler and Kimberley Star were readied for this contest in the same 1050m Randwick trial.
While Kimberley Star beat Holler, it was the Godolphin-raced colt who was turning the heads of trial watchers.
Nominated for the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup during the Royal Ascot Carnival, continued wet weather in Sydney through May thwarted those plans however a first up success at Randwick on Saturday will provide some consolation.
Taking the odds on quote in a seven horse field is justifiable as the son of Commands should be prominent throughout and too strong late.
In the following event, Eisenhower is an appealing each way prospect.
The All American gelding contests the Decorative Events 3YO Benchmark 75 Handicap (1400m) where he can build upon a strong last start showing.
Eisenhower returned to form back in grade after a Hawkesbury Guineas tilt when attempting to make all at this course and distance a fortnight ago.
It was a strong effort behind a filly who is working through her grades well this campaign.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained three-year-old produced the run on a testing track which perhaps told on the Star Thoroughbreds-raced gelding late.
Back on firmer footing and no doubt being at optimum fitness fourth run from a spell, the timing appears right for Eisenhower.
Jockey Josh Parr will have Eisenhower dictating terms out front in a race which as a whole lacks in early speed.
If able to steal some cheap early sectionals, the pair will take some catching in the straight.
