Queensland racing heads to Sunshine Coast this Saturday in what promises to be a competitive eight race programme.
The scratching of Lady Jetsetter has opened the door for Another Whiskey who looks well placed when lining up in the IGA Sunshine Coast Class 6 Handicap (1000m).
The Steele Ryan-trained runner has been good in all three runs this campaign, following up three placings with a last start win at Doomben over 1110m and that form reads well for this.
Glen Colless remains on board and he should get a lovely run off the pace from barrier 4.
Another Whiskey possesses a terrific record at the course, winning 2/3 and placing on the other occasion. Has had a four week break between runs but trialled at Deagon recently and will be very hard to beat in this.
The current price of $3.60 looks a good price for a horse with his form and the drop back to 1000m where he has a good record should not pose any issues.
Expect the big field to run along at a decent tempo and settling just off the pace Another Whiskey will be getting to the line well and if he runs up to his best form he can certainly make it two wins in a row.
Hopfgarten returns from a spell in the IGA Sunshine Coast Ascot Handicap (1200m) and despite not having won in over a year now could be worth an each way bet here.
Has won two of his last three first up efforts and ran pretty well in Group and listed company last campaign.
Proven to get around the Sunshine Coast track having won his only start here and despite looking for more ground than the 1200m on offer today can sprint well fresh.
The current price of $8 looks a good each way bet in this race and on best form he rates clear of his rivals today.
Worthy Cause did have the wood over Hopfgarten last spring 3-0 but Hopfgaten certainly had excuses.
Hopfgarten should have finished much closer first up in the G1 Rupert Clarke, then was knocked silly in the Toorak. Think his prep went awry after that. Has had one go here for a stakes win and he always puts in fresh. This big track should suit.
Last week saw the bet of the day Coolring run a narrow second after finding a bit of trouble at the top of the straight whilst the each way play Craiglea Wandoo did not back up off his Randwick run.
Good Luck!
