Meri Rani will appreciate the drop in grade when she lines up in the Class 2 Handicap (1300m) at Beaumont today.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained runner has been in very good form this campaign and was not too far away when fourth over the 1200m at Rosehill last start.
Meri Rani did not have a great deal of luck on that occasion when blocked for a run at the 200m and she looks much better suited today.
The now four-year-old mare gets a much needed 2kg claim from apprentice jockey Nick Heywood and proven at the trip looks right up to returning to the winners circle.
Expect Meri Rani to settle closer than she did last start at Rosehill and based on recent efforts looks hard to go past.
Love’s A Fantasy comes off a last start win at Wyong having only just missed when runner up at Warwick Farm two runs back.
Has a good record at the course placing on both previously occasions and drops back only slightly in trip to the 1300m where she has a good record.
Kerrin McEvoy remains on board and would expect her to be around midfield again today from barrier 6.
Certainly looks to have ability and with a solid career record she shapes up as the main danger to Meri Rani.
Despite failing to win a race in over a year now Captured comes into consideration off two solid efforts.
Just out of the placings when returning over the 1000, the Clarry Conners-trained runner finished second at Kembla Grange last start and recent form certainly brings her into this.
Brenton Avdulla goes back on board today having placed in 2/3 previous efforts and would expect her to be right in the mix again today.
Makuru goes up in grade for this following a good run for second at Goulburn last start over this trip.
Measures up well against these on best form but will need to improve off her last start effort against a tougher field.
Drawn to get a very good run from barrier 3 however and fitter again today third up from a spell looks to have each way claims.
Good Luck!
