The Melbourne Mail - April 28

3 minute read

It's back to Caulfield for another good betting meeting this weekend and our best comes in what looks one of the harder races to sort out on the card.

Race four has a bit of a raffle vibe at first glance with several evenly matched runners racing in their right grade.

Not many of these look like escaping the clutches of Benchmark 70s but one that can is Pleasant, a horse that has raced just three times, for as many stables, at the age of five.

He's clearly had his issues but his Pakenham win hinted at him being a well above-average talent, beating very little but smashing them apart and running good time from the front.

He ran fast and he did it finishing fast. Good combination! Prices north of 7/4 are worth taking.

For an each way play we are rolling onto the next on the card, a three-year-old handicap over 1200m.

There are a few more promising types engaged here, and one that we think is over the odds is Tarcoola Spirit who arrives 28 days between runs - the same recipe that led to her best performance last campaign.

She was never in the right spot to mount a challenge last time but her effort was okay and the Flemington run prior said she was going well.

She's right in the thick of the action on her best ratings and double-figure prices undersell her chances on Saturday.
