This will be in the G1 Chairman's Sprint Prize over 1200m. Eagle Regiment looked sensational winning the first 1000m but can he do the same over 1200?
At the moment the market doesn't think so as he's on 9.3, with Lucky Nine, an unlucky runner in the first leg, on 2.3. We were also impressed with the run of Rich Unicorn in that race and he's 5.9. Joy And Fun was a close second and is on 12, Little Bridge 10.
If you note the family connection with Silent Witness then there is a good case for saying that Eagle Regiment can do this. He seems to be a smart horse and will have benefited from his run in the first leg.
Race 10 is the Amber Handicap Cl. 2 over 1600m. Finezza ticks most boxes and as a result is on top at 4.2. There's some interesting debutants here and they are being kept safe by the punters in Hong Kong. Cheers Joy was originally with Alain de Royer-Dupre when he was Ziyarid and won four from seven. He's now with John Size and will have Douglas Whyte riding, and he's 6.6. Two others - Dominant, who used to be with Roger Varian and Dan Exel, who as Dunboyne Express was with Prendergast and had three wins and two seconds from ten starts in good races, are both on 10.0. As usual we prefer to see them have a run before parting with the hard-earned, and since it's a get-out we will put in Berio on 11 and Euro Swiftly on 18.
