With the result of the Second Round of the Maktoum Challenge perhaps the biggest of them.

There was a Godolphin winner of the race but not one of the fancied ones - Mendip, 10/1,with Kieren Fallon in the irons, put in a great run to win from Haatheq 25/1 and Master of Hounds 6/1 just grabbing third from Biondetti.

In the Firebreak, the previous race, Sandagiyr at 20/1 won for Godolphin with Tamaathul second and African Story third. Bold Silvano could only finish fifth in race that was his first start in a long time and was arguably too short - he was running on well at the end.

The 2000 Guineas saw Kinglet win by 1 1/2 lengths from Mickdaam and Mehdi. Dark Matter had led for much of the race but got swamped at the end and took fourth spot.
