Lucky Nine had to survive a protest from Douglas Whyte on Glorious Days after Lucky Nine started to move across the track and there was a contact between the horses at about the 250m and the final verdict only a short head, but it was considered that there had been enough distance between the incident and the finish for Glorious Days to come through. Sunny King ran yet another third but there was no disgrace in that for the 9yo, and Admiration was fourth.
Earlier Go Baby Go had confirmed his sprint cred with a dashing win in the HK Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce Cup down the 1000m straight. He was challenged be a fast finishing Sir Eagles with the verdict being a head. with California Choice third. Both Diamond Elegance and Frederick Engels looked like they needed the 1200.
The last race was a true get-out if you had happened to back Zac Purton's mount Happy Guys which went off at 53.0. He defeated favourite Dan Excel with Carthage on 24.0 third and Packing Tycoon fourth.
Douglas Whyte managed a 5-timer and Brett Prebble returned after injury with the G1 to his name.
