The Arrogate colt trained by 88 years young D Wayne Lukas and ridden by Jaime Torres made the most of the sloppy conditions.  Mystik Dan, who was so well behaved just could not pick up enough momentum in the mud to overtake him with Catching Freedom a bit further back in third.

Lukas thus got his 7th Preakness and young Jaime Torres rode a very well judged race for a jockey only two years out of jockey school.  It was his first ride and first win in a graded stakes.  His boss had already won 4 Preakness titles by the time he was born.

Lukas also saddled Just Steel whom we had liked before the race and it turns out that he suffered a condylar fracture to his right fore. It's not life threatening these days and he has been taken to the Equine hospital in Lexington.  N

Tuscan Gold ran a gallant fourth and seemed not to have enjoyed the conditions for which nobody who saw what the track was like would blame him.

On Friday Gun Song started favourite and obliged in the Black-eyed Susan for trainer Hennig and jockey Velazquez.  Corposo ran well for second and Call Another Play was third at 10/1.  The track was good on Friday and then the rain came!
