Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 4th January 2025

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for January 04.

Major metropolitan meeting today held at Randwick, Ascot, Geelong, Sunshine Coast and Murray Bridge

RANDWICK: RACE 9 @ 5:35 PM

BOSTON ROCKS (4) started favourite when resuming over 1000m at Caulfield Heath last start but found one better after being shuffled back before the corner then working home well. Meets a deeper field today but should be hard to beat with that run under his belt. IRON WILL (8) is racing well this prep, highlighted by a closing second over 1000m at Warwick Farm most recently. Up in class but not without claims. The lightly raced APEX (12) tackles Saturday company for the first time but trust the judgement of Team Hawkes to come here. COSMONOVA (10) went to the paddock in winning form and is a big watch fresh in her return.
SELECTIONS: Backing Boston Rocks.

ASCOT: RACE 5 @ 1:59 PM

VALSASSINA (5) sat midfield and launched over the top of her rivals in impressive fashion to win at this track and trip first-up. This is a stronger race, but she maps for a similar run and the figures she put up there stack up highly in this field. Can go on with the job. MEMORY PARADE (7) gets back onto a good track today following a disappointing end to last campaign on a soft surface. Her trial coming in was solid though and Chris Parnham riding is a big tick for her chances. Can bounce back to her prior form. THIS'LL SHOW YA (6) went under narrowly at Bunbury in a blanket finish and has been back to the trials since. Maps to be prominent in the run and a return to her best would see her hard to catch. CAPRE OMNIA (2) is better than he's shown his past couple and won't be far away.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Valsassina.

GEELONG: RACE 9 @ 5:15 PM

Keen on SHE'S BULLETPROOF (8) here. She's off a let up but her form reads very well, just failing to run down the talented Niance in the G3 How Now Stakes at Caulfield last time out. The win prior at Moonee Valley was dominant and she looks a mare capable of featuring in better races. BOSSY NIC (4) wasn't far away fresh in the Vobis Stockade at Ballarat, beaten two lengths. She'll be fitter for that and looks a good each way hope. PHARARI (7) also comes through the Stockade, only run down late by the smart Miss Roumbini. She's still some query at a strong 1200m but is racing too well to leave out. CLEO CAT (9) is unbeaten from 5 starts. She got the job done again at Ballarat last time in BM78 grade. This is much harder but we don't know her ceiling. INHIBITIONS (3) is consistent and should be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: She's Bulletproof to win.

SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 4 @ 4:05 PM

INFATUATION (6) saves her best form for this distance range with a win and a placing from just two attempts and will be at peak fitness for this. Rates a serious contender. WOOLOOWIN (2) has only missed a drum once in six career outings and that was a close-up fifth at Randwick last time out. Can play a major role in the finish. The well-related UNTIL VALHALLA (7) (half to G1 winner Sofia Rosa) has a handy second-up record and looks one for the exotics players. DIDDLE DUMPLING (13) best of the rest.
SELECTIONS: Backing Infatuation.

MURRAY BRIDGE: RACE 9 @ 1:07 PM

BRAVEMAN'SGAME (2) will be peaking third-up after having an excuse last time out at Gawler when holding his breath in the run to the line. The tongue tie is applied for the first time which will aid with his breathing. Todd Pannell is back in the saddle and he can show his true worth here. On top at some value. EXTRA HOT (9) failed to stay the 1500m at Gawler last time out 3 weeks ago and is dropping back to a more suitable trip of 1200m here. The blinkers are on for the first time and she is expected to bounce straight back into the money. SHISUTA BO (11) dug deep to score at Morphettville-Parks 9 days ago and has top 3 claims again, despite a wide gate. Stick with her. AMELIA VALENTINA (13) did not stretch out as expected after missing the start badly at Morphettville just over 3 weeks ago. She is better than that and is worth another chance. Follow your money.
SELECTIONS: Braveman'sgame to win.
