The Simon Miller trained Speeding Comet drops back in grade on Saturday and appears well placed to return to the winner's stall at Ascot.
Due to contest the final event, Speeding Comet lines up against the older horses but gets in well at the weights and has drawn to receive all the favours.
Having performed well fresh behind Nashville Cat, Speeding Comet has failed to really fire at his next two starts, but is certainly capable of better. On best form he possesses a slight edge over his rivals and notably possesses a great record at this course and distance.
He will no doubt appreciate the drop back in grade and presents great value at his current quote ($9.00).We have marked close to half that quote and hence are more than happy to bet up at the each-way odds.
Emerging sprinter Vega Magic is due to make his return in the sixth event and while stepping up in grade he still should prove hard to beat.
Successful in notching up his fourth straight win prior to a break, Vega Magic has won seven of his 10 career starts and is yet to taste defeat at Ascot. He has placed in all three fresh attempts and has drawn to receive all the favours on the inside.
Last preparation he continued to raise the bar with each performance and while likely to improve with racing he still looks to set a decent standard. The Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes could be a likely target for the four-year-old and while a lofty goal at this stage, he is tracking along nicely and has done little wrong to this point.
He is one of the more promising gallopers in WA at present and should prove very hard to beat.As a side note, TopBetta will continue its King Of The Spring tournament (Derby Day) on Saturday ($20K Total Prize Pool) and while Belmont won't play a part it is definitely worth checking out - Click Here .
