Sydney Saturday racing returns to Rosehill on Saturday with a competitive nine race program.
It could be an option to go one out in the opening leg of the quadrella at Rosehill on Saturday thanks to Sir Plush who contests the Winning Post Restaurant Benchmark 93 Handicap (1200m).
Sir Plush was hugely impressive first up when taking out a Benchmark 85 Handicap at this course on resuming however couldn’t make it consecutive wins last start when second at the same course and distance in a Benchmark 93 Handicap (1100m) behind Calanda.
The Bjorn Baker-trained runner was heavily supported on that occasion and while unable to deliver, market expectations aside, the run was full of merit.
Form from each of his runs this campaign has been franked. Badajoz ran second to Sir Plush when the four-year-old resumed and subsequently went on to win at the Sunshine Coast.
Calanda after beating Sir Plush here a fortnight ago went on to win the Listed Ramornie Handicap (1200m) at Grafton on Wednesday while Badajoz wasn’t far away in fifth.
Sir Plush will be fitter again third run from a spell where he possesses a good record.
He gets onto a firm surface which the son of Pins is expected to appreciate and looks perfectly poised down on the limit weight.
Campaigned out to 1500m last preparation, a step up to 1200m here following two starts over 1100m should be beneficial.
With the likely lead pair drawn either side of him, Sir Plush should get a nice run in behind the early pace and take holding out late.
In the following event, Gold Symphony can build upon his last start win when contesting the ATC Winter Stakes (1400m).
The son of Reward For Effort was ultra impressive at this course over 1350m a fortnight ago when taking out the Civic Stakes.
Settled back in the field by Hugh Bowman, Gold Symphony unleashed an impressive turn of foot out wide before posting a half length win over The Monstar.
The Monstar has since gone on to give the form a push by running second to Calanda in The Ramornie.
Gold Symphony has been excellent this campaign with his Civic Stakes win coming after a third in the Luskin Star Stakes and a 2.9 length sixth in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1350m).
For those who backed Gold Symphony at a nice each way quote last start, stick with him, for those who missed the boat a fortnight ago, it isn’t too late to get on.
