Say From SA – March 3

The Lord Reims Stakes highlights the main track card this week with Adelaide Cup credentials laid down.

In that Lord Reims, am prepared to give Etah James another go after losing at odds on midweek in Melbourne.

She was found to have a problem there which they recover quickly from and off a six week freshen, it was never going to be easy back 700m then anyway.

This time she is back up to a better trip, likely heading for an Adelaide Cup tilt the week after.

She has reacted nicely to running with light weights and on ratings has to be in the finish.

A good run will see her a potential hope with no weight on her back in that Adelaide Cup.

Earlier, in a nice three year old BM70, we are keen on a Lindsay Park gelding on resumption.

Tycoon Dancer won on debut and then had a crack at much tougher 3yo company in the Spring, finishing a few lengths off them in Saturday Melbourne grade.

Given some time off he has trialled well winning his lead up. With the likely speed on, he can camp on the back of that and sweep home.

The 2kg claim for Fred Kersley cannot be a drawback either.

The beaten runners had no excuse when Etah James simply outstayed them with a very good front running display. Rider Linda Meech wasted no time in taking up the pace and cruised around the far bend in front quite comfortably, maintaining the lead down the back and past the 600m although only by a neck. Prior to the home straight she was challenged briefly but upon straightening Meech gave the mare two or three slaps to accelerate clear and was increasing her lead at the post for a decisive win, her sixth (maiden stakes) from just 10 starts. Master Of Arts was second all the way, challenged into the straight but was outstayed. Benzini hugged the fence into the straight and kept on for third from Exalted Lightning who finished on best of the rest for fourth.
