Important Listed races feature on the Adelaide program this week.
One of those is the Victoria Derby lead up in the Hill Smith Stakes over 1800m. Or is it actually a VRC Oaks lead up?
Having a throw at the stumps with a second starter filly being Maui Girl for Tony McEvoy.
She worked hard to find the front and from there controlled her debut race over 1400m at Murray Bridge.
The daughter of Lope De Vega was taken on before the bend but gave a huge kick to win by three.
Over this distance, leaders can influence the race all the way and on breeding this journey is no issue. She’s a value hope.
The other good race is the Durbridge Stakes and there looks the right form in the shape of Petrelle.
This mare is taking a big step out of BM64 grade to black type but it has been the way she has won.
She has dominated both her starts from on-pace and despite drawing wide, that is not always bad for a leader from the dogleg start.
In acknowledging she is outgraded in a big way at WFA, she might just be a real x-factor horse. Has been backed already too.
