We've reached the first of the big three in Melbourne with Caulfield Cup Day one of the spring's great days.

Caulfield Cup Day is one of the spring's great days and the Caulfield Cup is one of it's great races. It's no different this year and our best of the day comes up there with Darren Weir fancied to add a key piece to his ever-growing trophy cabinet via Kings Will Dream.

Kings Will Dream punched his ticket to the Caulfield Cup by winning the Mornington Cup back in March and things have ticked over ideally since. He hasn't won this spring so far but his four runs have all been terrific and everyone of them has suggested that he is on track to peak on the day that the stable have set him to do so.

He has improved his ratings this time in and promised more. A positive barrier draw only furthered his claims. It's a good Caulfield Cup but for all that there is depth toppling the King looks no easy task and we are keen to be with him at better than 4-1.

For an each way play we are looking at the Ethereal where the early favourite is Oaks Trial winner Greysful Glamour.

That's fair enough, she has impressed at her latest couple and won't have to improve much if at all to be in the finish, but the gap between her and the closing second that day, Yulong Meteor seems to great in the early betting.

Yulong Meteor draws awkwardly, and the chance of a similar scenario to last time unfolding is undoubtedly a factor in her early price around $18.00, but we're keen to have her on side at those odds as her closing splits in recent runs have been pointing to her being a good deal better than her results.
