In-form gelding Emphasis looks suited returning to the mile at Doomben on Saturday.
Emphasis lines up in race three on the program, the Asian Plus Handicap over 1600m.
The six-year-old comes off a brave effort at Sunshine Coast last start when he covered ground but fought on well for a 2.2L third.
That was over 1800m and he may appreciate dropping in distance as he is a three-time winner at the mile including at Eagle Farm two back when he beat recent stakes winner Bergerac.
Top jockey Jeff Lloyd has been aboard in his last two runs and has now won three of six rides on him.
Lloyd should be able to give Emphasis a good run in transit from gate two and with the likes of Smooth Consul and Bratislava setting a decent tempo there should be enough early pace to allow him to unleash a big finish in the straight.
Promising sprinter Fuji Flyer looks worth a gamble when he resumes in the H & T Handicap over 1200m later in the program.
The Heinrich/Rodgers-trained four-year-old raced just twice at his maiden campaign, romping home with a 5.3L win at Gold Coast on debut before stepping up to this company at this course when runner up.
He is likely to have matured in the five months since then and he has been gelded since he last raced, a move that could be the makings of him as a racehorse.
Fuji Flyer should be ready for his return after a solid trial and can find a handy position up on the speed courtesy of a low draw.
