The Godolphin stable is in full flight and if you can't beat them, join them!
Fresh off winning the Group 1 Futurity Stakes with Alizee last weekend, progressive filly Pohutukawa appears well placed to follow in her footsteps, when lining up in Group 1 Surround Stakes on Saturday.
Only two lengths separated the first six across the line in the Group 2 Light Fingers [1200m] and Pohutukawa was clearly the run of the race.
An impressive winner at Flemington on Cup Day, she proceeded to take a good step forward, when an unlucky third behind Nakeeta Jane.
Not at her best over 1200m, Pohutukawa really caught the eye when she arguably should have won.
One of only a few horses to match Winx with Pohutukawa running the fastest 800m and second fastest 600m, 400m and 200m of the day.
She is expected to relish the step up to 1400m and has drawn to receive all the favours for James McDonald.
She is proven to handle all conditions and should prove very hard to beat.
In the second event the Bryan Dais trained Looks Like Elvis strikes a very winnable event and a great betting opportunity.
A sectional star behind Cisco Bay two back, Looks Like Elvis took that form to Melbourne and again ran well when only narrowly beaten behind Schabau.
The latter is being heralded as a superstar and again the clock backed up the strength of his performance.
Rates clear down in the weights and with McEvoy booked there is a bit to like.
Looks a genuine speed on paper and expect Looks Like Elvis to be very strong late.
