Whitten’s Brew steps up to the mile for the first time when third up at Morphettville on Saturday and on what she has produced of late looks very hard to go past.

The Tony McEvoy-trained runner kicked off the preparation with a good win at Morphettville Parks and was not far away again when runner up over 1400m last start.

The four-year-old mare has raced in Group 3 company over 1800m previously and kept chasing strongly last start so the step up to the mile should not be of concern in this.

Up slightly in weight with 56kg, apprentice jockey Harry Coffey goes on board, claiming 3kg and with only 53kgs to carry after the claim, Whitten’s Brew looks very hard to beat against these.

Should settle around midfield or just off midfield from barrier 9 and has been getting to the line very well of late and this should be no different.

Main danger Auto Pilot has drawn wide and steps up in class today whilst Benefit who comes out of the same race as Whitten’s Brew has also drawn awkwardly and has a bit to find on last starts effort.

Earlier in the day Sol Brillante finds himself in an open race but at $6.50 currently looks a very good bet.

Won a handy race at Mildura two back before a solid enough run at Geelong last start and does not take on very tough company today.

Getting a much needed 3kg by Harry Coffey, his effort two runs back at Mildura rates well on weight adjusted Timeform ratings.

Likely to be at each way odds and in a race like this can certainly get the job done.

Currently at $1.80 the in form Red Magnet will look to continue on his winning way but comes up against a couple handy runners and at the short odds looks the lay of the day.

Bring A Ring only finished 2.8L away from Anatina who has been racing well of late and her group and listed form last preparation rate well clear on weight adjusted Timeform ratings.

At the odds I would be more inclined to take the $3.20 about Bring A Ring with Pistolier and Tennessee Groom also coming off handy form.
