The late scratching of Woakwine at Morphettville has opened up the door for Whitten’s Delight who has been racing in very good form of late.

Even with Woakwine in the race Whittens’ Delight was still hard to go past and on the back of two good runs this time in looks the clear top pick in the Schweppes Handicap rst 86 (1600m).

Resuming well enough in tougher at Moonee Valley, the four-year-old mare went on to run a good third behind Sino Eagle at Flemington last start and up to the mile today against easier should prove too good for these.

Whitten’s Delight who will be ridden by Matthew Neilson rates clear on weight adjusted Timeform ratings and has a good record here at Morphettville.

Trained by Tony McEvoy- the daughter of Barely A Moment was last seen over the mile when running a close seventh behind Gris Caro in the Balaklava Cup and she should get the job done today.

The previous race on the card looks to be a fairly competitive field however currently at $11 Meadows Jim appears to be good value despite not having won a race in a while now.

The six-year-old gelding has been competitive in similar company recently and last preparation was only 3.4L away in the G1 The Goodwood.

Meadows Jim will only be required to carry 52kg after the apprentice claim and from barrier 5 will not be far away throughout the run.

Riziz and Gamblin’ Guru will no doubt be hard to beat however at the good each way odds he certainly looks in this based on best and recent form.

Tons OF Dash has been racing well in much easier company of late and despite going up in not only grade but distance as well for the first time he certainly does not warrant current favouritism.

The five-year-old gelding goes up 400m on his last start third at Mt Gambier where untried and in an open race still has plenty to find on recent form to be winning here.

Spanish Vixen has been running just as well if not better in similar company along with L’esprit who resumed well at Geelong last start.

A handful of other runners have also been solid enough in similar company to this of late and the $3.90 currently on offer looks big unders.
