The 2014 jumps season kicks off at Oakbank on Saturday and local jumper Dumosa looks hard to go past in the opener.
The Barry Brook-trained runner comes into the ACG Prelude Hurdle (2900m) off three runs on the flat and demonstrated last campaign he has plenty of ability over the obstacles.
Dumosa had five runs over the jumps, winning two of them and placing on a further two occasions and should get his jumps season off to a winning start at Oakbank.
Apprentice jockey Amy Herrmann goes on board and claims a much needed 3kg and with bigger tasks ahead of him over the Easter Carnival should be claiming a win against what appears to be an ordinary field.
Dumosa rates well on weight adjusted Timeform ratings and generally runs well here at his home course.
Medal Contender has shown some pretty good form in recent times and later in the day can return to the winners circle in the Webster Hyde Health Insurance RST86 (1100m).
Claiming a win at Morphettville Parks three runs back, the four-year-old has been solid in two runs since and was only 1.7L away last start on a slow track.
Medal Contender rates well on the back of that effort and with only 54kg to carry here must be respected and currently at $9 looks a pretty good price.
Golden Dane and Meadows Jim obviously look the dangers but Medal Contender will go forward from barrier nine and take plenty of running down.
Little Akie was sixth when resuming at Morphettville last start but looks better suited over the mile and beyond.
Has plenty of weight to carry in the Yalumba Benchmark 90 Handicap and in an open race the $3 looks a bit short.
Likely to get back from barrier 9 and will need a bit to go his way throughout the run and would not be jumping in at the short price.
