Best From The West - June 28

3 minute read

The Simon Miller trained Sujet has returned in great order this time in and appears poised to notch up the hat-trick at Belmont on Saturday.

Having displayed plenty of ability during his maiden preparation the son of Vital Equine has picked up right where he left off having notched up back to back victories at this track last start.

While appearing somewhat in danger upon straightening, Sujet proved too good over the concluding stages surging clear to score by two lengths.

Successful in notching up a near peak performance he is expected to relish the step up in trip to 1300m on Saturday and does appear very hard to beat.

On Timeform weight adjusted ratings he does look to have a distinct edge on his rivals and does appear some value at his current short quote.

Currently 4-5 is the best on offer about his chances on Saturday but we still feel that isn't a true reflection of his winning chance.

At $1.80 he is expected to win this race close to six times out of ten where as we see him as far more likely than that.

If priced aggressively we can get him as short as $1.65 and feel his current price on offer is well worth taking.

Another galloper who presents good value on Saturday is the Fred Kersley trained On The Ropes who appears set to relish the step up to the mile on Saturday.

Both his performances this time in have been encouraging and he should be right at his peak racing third up.

While some may question the step straight up to the mile from 1000m, his sole performance at this trip was very impressive despite being unable to salute the judge.

On that occasion the track clearly was favouring the backmarkers and after forced to settle right up on the speed he proved very game in defeat when only swamped late in the piece.

Currently installed a 4-1 chance appears good value as we have him installed a 3-1 chance on best form and given you can get each-way odds about him it presents a great betting proposition.

While he may appeared nailed on to finally break his run out of outs the Adam Durrant trained Ranger appears poisoned odds at 2-1 in the fifth event.

He is yet to salute the judge in 966 days and while this race appears ideal he has often continued to find one better.

Although he may win we are more than happy for him to do it without us and feel the Fred Kersley trained Operational is a far better betting proposition.
